POSITION SUMMARY:

This intern position is an opportunity to get involved in a growing nonprofit performing arts organization, either for someone desiring more professional experience, or for someone interested in working with such an organization as ours which could lead to a full salaried position. The successful intern will be considered for a full time position as our Development & Marketing Director upon completion of the internship. The speed and success of the position turning into a paid full-time position is entirely dependent on the success of the intern. The internship is not intended to last longer than one year, hopefully less. At that time it is our intention to hire the successful intern as a full-time employee, and salary will be commensurate with the success of the intern during the internship. Bonuses will be paid during the internship, but it is a non-salaried position.

 

TTPS seeks a motivated, skilled, and experienced Director of Development & Marketing to join the team at this exciting point in TTPS’s history to create and execute philanthropic growth of San Diego County’s newest professional regional theater. They will work in close partnership with the Producing Artistic Director to develop and recruit an engaged and energized Board, to expand strategic initiatives in support of high artistic standards, to build strong connection to the community, and successfully engage loyal and growing audiences.

The Director of Development & Marketing will be responsible for articulating, planning, and overseeing the implementation of a strategic direction for a comprehensive development plan for all sources of contributed revenue, from the board, individuals, and institutions, including foundation, corporate, and government funding. The Director of Development & Marketing is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of TRIPLE THREAT Productions & Studios’ fundraising, including a major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. 

 

This position will also be responsible for developing and implementing a marketing plan for the TTPS production season and educational programming, designed to attain TTPS’s income goals. The Marketing and Development Director will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, producing, and disseminating all print and digital media advertising, promotional mail campaigns, display advertising, website maintenance, and event programs. They will work closely with the Producing Artistic Director in coordinating press releases, media coverage, event reviews, press conferences, and special events. They will additionally be responsible for audience cultivation and retention, generation of earned ticket revenue, brand management, budgeting and forecasting, creative content for social media, web advertising, group sales, and public relations to meet institutional and ticket sales goals. Experience in sales and marketing is preferred, and the ideal candidate should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to track multiple ongoing projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

 

The Director of Development & Marketing is a senior member of the theater’s leadership team, reporting to the Producing Artistic Director. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and a collaborative leader as well as a talented frontline fundraiser who is driven to pursue goals with persistence, as well as a creative and organized director of marketing who will implement positive marketing initiatives for our growing company.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have knowledge and experience in professional fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.

  • Proven marketing campaign experience.

  • Experience with digital marketing forms such as social media marketing and content marketing.

  • Experience and understanding in managing GMB accounts to drive SEO.

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel, and including Apple applications and software: iWorks and iLife suites.

  • Experience with Photoshop and graphic design.

  • Experience and understanding of professional performing arts industry.

  • Up to speed with current and online marketing techniques and best practices.

  • BS/BA in business administration, marketing and communications or relevant field.

  • Master’s degree in related field.

  • Experience leading and managing SEO/SEM, marketing database, email, social media, and/or display advertising campaigns.

  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate.

  • Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels.

  • Solid knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends, SEMRush, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of ad-serving tools.

  • Experience running successful Facebook Ad campaigns.

  • Experience in setting up and optimizing PPC campaigns on all major search engines, including Google Adwords.

  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints preferred.

 

ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications.

  2. Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors.

  3. Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

  4. Build the “planned giving program” with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.

  5. Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.

  6. Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.

  7. Coordinate fundraising special events.

  8. Oversee prospect research.

  9. Work closely with TTPS executive Producing Artistic Director and Board of Directors.

  10. Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about TTPS with the community.

  11. Recruit and develop a strong Board of Directors.

  12. Staff Board Development Committee meetings.

  13. Manage fundraising database and tracking systems.

  14. Design and create publications to support fund raising activities.

  15. Maintain gift recognition programs.

  16. Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.

  17. Evaluate and develop marketing strategy and plan.

  18. Oversee, plan, direct, and coordinate all marketing efforts.

  19. Communicate the marketing plan.

  20. Work with team to develop pricing strategies to maximize profits and market share while balancing customer satisfaction.

  21. Identify potential customers.

  22. Develop promotions.

  23. Compile lists describing TTPS offerings.

  24. Develop and manage advertising campaigns.

  25. Build brand awareness and positioning.

  26. Support sales and lead generation efforts.

  27. Oversee social media marketing strategy and content marketing.

  28. Develop and manage marketing budgets and allocate resources amongst projects.

  29. Establish and grow a target market share.

  30. Conduct customer, brand, and product research initiatives.

  31. Offer expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media, and events.

  32. Negotiate with media partners to guarantee advantageous contracts.

  33. Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  34. Monitor progress and submit performance reports.

  35. Responsible for producing valuable content for the company’s online presence, editorial design, and organizing the company’s publications.

  36. Conduct general market research to keep abreast of trends and competitor’s marketing movements.

  37. Maintain relations with customers by organizing and developing specific customer-relations programs.

  38. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

  39. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE:

Founded in 2011, TRIPLE THREAT Productions & Studios is a non-profit 501(c)(3) performing arts organization with a new professional theatre company based in Fallbrook, CA (North San Diego County). In addition to the theatre production company, TRIPLE THREAT also has educational studios, training youth and adults in singing, dancing, and acting, both in-person to residents of the surrounding area, as well as globally, online.

 

TTPS Founders Cody & Valerie Walker have over 20 years of professional experience in the performing arts, traveling the world as entertainers, based out of NYC and Los Angeles, performing in Broadway theaters, National Tours, Cruise Ships, and regional theaters across the nation. They are accomplished directors, choreographers, and award winning producers, having managed multiple professional theaters as producers and artistic directors. They have served as theatrical consultants, helping other theaters grow their businesses organizationally, financially, and artistically. Cody Walker also serves as the Regional Director of the Western United States on the executive Board with MTEA (Musical Theatre Educators Alliance International), which leading educational trends in musical theater, and has served as director of musical theatre programs and a professor at several Universities.

 

TTPS is growing rapidly, expanding group classes and offerings, partnering with various charter schools, and recently acquired a new home as a resident local theater company in Fallbrook, CA.
